Daily Mail: Twice Stefan Maierhofer took advantage of poor defending to head home in the first half before Emmanuel Ledesma clawed one back with a free-kick after the break.

Newsattheden: Stefan Maierhofer rewarded himself with an Easter feast after gobbling up two chances in Millwall’s win at Middlesbrough on Saturday. The Austrian targetman opened his account for the Lions after 16 minutes at the Riverside Stadium and his second goal, a carbon-copy header, followed soon after. And the striker, a former chef, joked afterwards: „When I get on the team bus I am allowed two pizzas because I scored two goals!“ Maierhofer admitted he was thrilled to get on the scoresheet as Millwall claimed their third straight away win, a result which lifted them out of the bottom three.

Wortsplitter von Maierhofer nach dem Sieg

„Two goals, three points – I feel good,“
„It’s a great feeling but I work every day in training and I know that I can help the team with goals. The important thing is to win my headers and work hard for the team.
„It doesn’t matter if anyone else scores, as long as we win and take the points.”
„I’m a striker so I need to score in every game. They were great crosses from Lee Martin and the result is very important to us.”
„Three points at Middlesbrough and three more on Monday would be fantastic. We need to start the game like we started on Saturday and I think we can win it.
„The last few weeks have given us a big boost. Nobody thought we would win at Forest and we went to Wigan three days later and got the same result.
„I have been here one month and the gaffer said the right words every time and we have worked hard in training for me.
„In the past, I’m used to playing for teams at the front of the table, so this is a new situation for me. Every game, you have a lot of pressure.
„We’ve been doing very well. We took big points at Forest, Wigan and Middlesbrough. Now must do it now on Monday at The Den.
„I think that would a big, big step towards staying in this league.“
